PTO

What is the difference between a mechanical and an electrical PTO?

A mechanical PTO uses mechanical linkages, belts and gears to transmit power from the engine to the lawnmower blades.

An electrical PTO uses an electromagnet clutch to achieve the same result.

How can I tell if my PTO needs replacement?

If your PTO needs to be replaced, you’ll get some tell-tale warning signs. Unusual noises could indicate worn bearings, while extra vibration could mean that the U-joins are worn. You should also check for any oil leaks near the PTO shaft. If you notice more play than usual in the shaft, this can also indicate wear and tear.

Are there safety concerns related to PTO systems?

PTO systems are perfectly safe, as long as you follow some basic guidelines. Obviously you should read your lawnmower manual so that know exactly how to handle it. Don’t wear loose clothing when you’re mowing, and make sure that the PTO switch is off when you’re done. You should also regularly inspect your mower for any issues, as we described above.

SAE 30 Oil

What is the viscosity rating of SAE 30 engine oil?

Can I combine SAE 30 oil with other oil grades?

It’s not advisable to mix different grades of oil. This is because they will have different viscosity levels, which affects the oil’s performance, decreasing lubrication and possibly damaging your engine.

Can I use SAE 30 oil in diesel engines?

SAE 30 oil works well in naturally aspirated diesel engines in moderate to severe conditions, as long as its drained and replaced frequently.

Does SAE 30 oil contain any additives?

SAE 30 oil has a number of additives that help keep your engine healthy and extend longevity. These include anti-corrosion agents, anti-wear ingredients, anti-oxidants and detergents.

Is SAE 30 a synthetic oil?

You can get both conventional and synthetic SAE 30 oil. Standard SAE 30 is a petroleum-based conventional engine oil. You can also get synthetic SAE 30 oil from a number of different brands.
